Guidance for Adolescent Girls with the Support of the Integrated Child Development Project.
In 2002, Arogya Prabodhini conducted a primary survey to understand the information needs of rural youth. It was found that there were many misconceptions and unanswered questions about sexual health. Due to shame and hesitation, people endured issues related to genital health, itching, infections, menstrual hygiene, and sexual misconceptions without seeking help.
To address this, awareness posters were created on topics such as sexually transmitted infections, menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, and personal cleanliness. This initiative was well received, and many youth groups helped expand the program in villages.
With the support of the Marathi Science Council, the initiative reached 46,000 adolescents in Gadchiroli, Bhandara, Gondia, and Chandrapur districts. The program was found useful by many girls, and mothers started attending the sessions with their daughters.
